Born in 1863, Henry Ford showed an interest in mechanics from a young age, constructing his first steam engine at the age of 15. This interest in internal combustion engines led him to construct a one-cylinder gasoline model in 1893. The woman portrayed in the famous ‘We Can Do It!’ propaganda poster from WW2 was a real person named Rose Will Monroe. A Ford employee, Monroe worked in the Willow Run bomber plant during the war. While Monroe was on duty, she caught the eye of a Hollywood producer who was casting for the part of a riveter, and her exposure in that film resulted in the iconic poster by J. Howard Miller.³
