Information about indicative premium ranges and comparisons

When we display the indicative Comprehensive premium range for a car make and model, or offer a comparison of how a model’s annual premium compares to Youi premiums for all models for that car brand, we adopt some important guidelines:

  • The information displayed is based on Youi internal data for Comprehensive policies sold for the make and model between 10 Nov 2023 and 10 May 2024.
  • To improve how useful our data is, we only calculate our average comparisons on models where Youi data is available on at least 10 sold Comprehensive policies for that model.
  • As you would expect, we get some higher or lower premiums based on different risk ratings, so the indicative range does not represent all Youi customers. 80% of applicable Comprehensive car premiums purchased by our customers fell within or below the indicative premium range shown.
  • Premiums and offers to insure are subject to rating & underwriting, and your own individual circumstances.

Interesting facts about Porsche

Porsche was ‘born’ in 1948 with the 356 Roadster

Company founder, Ferry Porsche, realised his dream of creating a sports car on June 8, 1948 when the 356 ‘No.1’ Roadster became the first to be registered with the Porsche name. This achievement was made possible by Ferry Porsche’s father, Ferdinand Porsche, who had been an innovator in the automotive industry since the 19th century.1

The Porsche 911 has been built over a million times

The Porsche 911 was the successor to the 356, designed by Ferry Porsche’s son, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche. Released in 1963, the Porsche 911 gave the company its breakthrough as a world leader in sports cars, from both a technical and design perspective. The 911 has been so successful, it’s been built more than a million times.1

The Porsche coat of arms made its debut in 1952

Now a recognisable symbol all over the world, the Porsche coat of arms first appeared on the steering hub of the 356. The inspiration was taken from the Stuttgart city seal, with the city name flanked by the state colours of red and black. A rearing horse in the centre is surrounded by stylised antlers (from the Württemberg-Hohenzollern coat of arms), with the ‘Porsche’ lettering across the top acting as a protective roof.2

Porsche Design makes car-inspired watches

Ferry Porsche’s oldest son, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, established the Porsche Design company in 1972, and their first product was a watch made for Porsche employees. The result was the Chronograph I, a watch that used the instrument panel of the Porsche 911 as inspiration. This watch has recently been reissued with virtually zero changes made to the original design.3
