Got a flat tyre or a flat battery? No fuel? Your motorhome just won’t go? Our roadside assistance will be there to help you out of trouble 24/7. Some limits and restrictions apply.1

Accidental damage

Accidents happen. So, try not to stress when they do, knowing your motorhome is covered for accidental damage caused by you or someone else.13

Intentional damage

Not all damage is accidental. If someone intentionally damages your motorhome, that’s covered as well.13

Storm or flood

We’ll provide cover for accidental damage to your motorhome caused by a storm or flood.4

Fire

If your motorhome is damaged by fire, we’ll cover the cost to replace or repair it.8

Theft

If someone steals your motorhome, or tries to and causes damage to the vehicle, we’ll cover the cost to replace or repair it.5

Earthquake

As rare as they are here in Australia, earthquakes can still hit and cause major carnage. If that’s the case, we’ll cover your motorhome if it’s damaged after an insured event.13

Legal liability

If your motorhome accidentally causes damage to another person’s property, we provide cover for up to $20 million in legal liability costs.6

Towing costs

Cover includes the reasonable cost of towing and storage of your motorhome at a suitable place for safekeeping nearest to the incident location after an insured event.8

Personal transport

If your motorhome isn’t safe to drive after an insured event, we’ll reimburse up to $100 for personal transport from the scene of the incident, to and from the vehicle’s repairer, or to and from a hire car provider.8

Emergency accommodation, transport and repairs

If your motorhome is damaged in an insured event and isn’t safe to drive, and you’re more than 100km from home, we’ll reimburse up to $1,000 for your emergency accommodation, transport or repairs.8

Hire car following theft

Where a claim is accepted for theft or attempted theft of your car, we’ll pay for the reasonable cost of a compact hire car for up to 14 days after theft or attempted theft.14

Hire car following a not at fault accident

If you’re the not-at-fault driver in an accident that causes loss or damage to your vehicle, we’ll organise and/or cover the costs of a suitable hire car that will meet your needs, to help you get around. Conditions apply – see the PDS for full details.15

Hire car for other insured events

If you have a Comprehensive or Third Party Fire & Theft policy, you can choose to add optional cover for a hire car for up to 14 days for all other insured events.  

Note: This optional cover may not always be available to you. If you ask and we agree to add this option, the details will be noted on your policy schedule, and you’ll be charged an additional premium.

Locks and keys

If the keys to your motorhome are stolen, we’ll cover the cost up to $1,000 to replace or recode the car’s locks and keys.

Additions to the motorhome
We’ll replace the following items that are on or in your motorhome should they be damaged as a result of an insured event:14
 
• Baby seat/s
• Personalised registration plates
• Towbar
• Window tinting.
Contents inside the car

It’s not just your car we’ve got covered in the event of an insured event; we’ll look after your contents inside the car too, with up to $150 per item and up to $750 in total.

Unbraked trailer

Your unbraked trailer will be covered for its market value up to $1,500 if it’s damaged as a result of an insured event specified in the policy.14

Temporary replacement cover

After you’ve sold or traded in your current motorhome, we’ll insure your replacement vehicle for up to 14 days after the purchase if the replacement vehicle is bought for up to a maximum of $100,000 for Comprehensive and Third Party Fire & Theft policies.16

Counselling services

We’ll help look after your mental health too, with up to $1,500 per person – including you, listed drivers, and household members – towards the cost of counselling sessions needed after an incident where a claim has been accepted.12

Funeral expenses

If the driver of your motorhome sustains a fatal injury as a result of an accepted claim accident while driving the vehicle with your permission, we’ll pay $5,000 per contract period to the deceased driver’s estate for the purposes of meeting expenses incidental to a funeral, burial or cremation.

Business items

If your business items are stolen from a lockable compartment or damaged as a result of an insured event, our optional insurance for theft protection will cover the lesser of the replacement cost or up to $400 per item, with a maximum amount of $2,000 per claim.14

Campervan / motorhome contents

When it comes to the contents inside your campervan or motorhome, we’ll cover the lesser of the replacement cost or up to $1,000 per item if loss or damage occurs due to an insured event. The most we’ll pay for each claim is noted on your policy schedule.14 

Note: This optional cover may not always be available to you. If you ask and we agree to add the option, the details will be noted on your policy schedule, and you’ll be charged an additional premium. Business items are not covered under this optional cover and must be covered separately under the Optional Cover: Business Items.

Choice of repairer

This allows you to choose a repairer outside of our extensive repairer network.8 However, if you don’t select this option, we’ll manage the repair process from start to finish using one of our trusted repairers nationwide. All repairs we authorise come with a lifetime guarantee on workmanship for as long as you own the motorhome.

Sometimes, you need a little extra coverage to fit your situation. We get that, which is why we offer a range of optional covers in addition to our standard car insurance for motorhomes. Not every option is available for all situations, but speak to one of our team members, and we’ll do our best to help.

Campervan/motorhome contents upgrade

Choose this optional extra with your Comprehensive or Third Party Fire & Theft policy to cover the contents inside for the lesser of the replacement cost or up to $1,000 per item if they’re lost or damaged in an insured event.3

Reduced excess for windscreens

A cracked windscreen or broken glass can quickly put the brakes on your motorhome adventures. That’s why we may offer reduced excess for claims that only involve windscreen, window glass or sunroof glass.17

Your choice of repairer

While we have an extensive network of repairers, we know you might prefer to choose your own. Just let us know if you want to have a choice of repairer for your motorhome when you make a claim.17

Motorhome insurance in NSW

All motor vehicles need Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance to be able to drive on NSW roads, and that includes motorhomes.18 This type of insurance will protect you from the financial impact of causing injury or death to others as the result of an accident. You can purchase CTP directly from a licensed insurer or through a variety of agents and outlets and online. Youi offers CTP Green Slip insurance for motorhome drivers in NSW.

From there, you can choose car insurance to suit your situation. Youi offers three levels: Comprehensive, Third Party Fire & Theft and Third Party Property Only.

Motorhome insurance in QLD

Any motorhome driven on QLD roads must have Compulsory Third party (CTP) insurance. This will protect you financially if you have an accident that causes injury or death to others.19  

Once you’ve sorted your CTP insurance, you can choose to take out Comprehensive, Third Party Fire & Theft, and Third Party Property Only insurance, depending on your needs and circumstances.

Motorhome insurance in VIC 

In VIC, Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance is included in your motorhome’s registration costs in the form of the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) fee. This charge is used to pay for treatment and income support for people injured in road accidents.20   

Once that’s sorted, you can choose from our range of motorhome insurance coverage options, including Comprehensive, Third Party Fire & Theft and Third Party Property Only.

Motorhome insurance in SA

To drive on SA roads, all motorhomes require Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance, which protects you from the financial impact of causing injury or death to others as the result of a road accident.21 Youi provides CTP insurance for SA vehicle owners – you can nominate us as your future CTP insurer at any time.

From there, you can choose to take out Youi’s Comprehensive, Third Party Fire & Theft or Third Party Property Only insurance, depending on your situation.

Motorhome insurance in WA

In WA, Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance is mandatory for all drivers, and it’s included in your vehicle registration fee. It is designed to protect you financially if you are at fault in an accident that causes injury or death to others.22  

Once that’s sorted, you can select from one of our three levels of car insurance for your motorhome: Comprehensive, Third Party Fire & Theft and Third Party Property Only.

Motorhome insurance in the ACT

In the ACT, Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance is managed by the Motor Accident Injuries Commission (MAIC) and the premium is paid as part of the vehicle registration process. It’s mandatory for every motorhome driver to have MAI insurance to drive on ACT roads.23 

Once your CTP is organised, you can choose from our three levels of insurance for your motorhome: Comprehensive, Third Party Fire & Theft, and Third Party Property Only.

Motorhome insurance in TAS

CTP cover is mandatory for motorhome drivers in TAS, and it’s managed by the Motor Accidents Insurance Board (MAIB). The premium is included in your motorhome registration fee and protects you from the financial consequences of causing injury or death to others as the result of a motor accident where you’re at fault.24 

From there, you can choose a level of additional coverage from our range of car insurance options: Comprehensive, Third Party Fire & Theft and Third Party Property Only.

The cost of motorhome insurance in Australia can vary depending on a range of factors, including you, your motorhome, how you use it and the level of cover you choose.

Comprehensive car insurance will usually cost more, but it provides you with a higher level of cover. Our Third Party Property Only car insurance is the most basic – and cheapest – level of cover we offer. 

Yes. Other people named by you as listed drivers are covered by your policy. You can also give people who are not listed permission to drive your motorhome but if they have an accident, you may need to pay an additional driver-specific excess. See the PDS for full details.

Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance is mandatory in all states and territories – it’s known as Green Slip in NSW. Other types of car insurance are optional. The level of cover you choose beyond CTP is up to you and depends on your personal circumstances.

Yes, roadside assistance comes as standard with Youi’s Comprehensive car insurance policy, which covers motorhomes. Some exclusions, limits and additional fees may apply, including a maximum GVM of 3.5 tonne. So, whether you’re on a long road trip or a weekend getaway, help is at hand if you get stuck.1  

Yes. Youi’s optional campervan/motorhome contents cover can be added to your policy when you have Comprehensive or Third Party Fire & Theft insurance. This can cover the contents inside your motorhome up to the lesser of the replacement cost or up to $1,000 per item if they’re lost or damaged in an insured event. Yes, for most extreme weather events, Youi’s Comprehensive car insurance has you covered.25 If your motorhome sustains damage from a bushfire, you’re also covered for replacement or repair under our Comprehensive insurance.4

Motorhome modifications may be covered separately. That means if you have motorhome modifications, you’ll need to specify an amount for these to be covered and these amounts will then be listed on your policy schedule if accepted.
