Got a question about watercraft insurance?
Want to know what you're covered for, or not covered for with our watercraft products?
We've put together some of the most popular questions we get asked about our watercraft insurance. Just click on the question that relates to you, and you’ll find what you’re looking for.
If you’d like a little more information, check out the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) on the cover you’re interested in. And if you don’t find what you’re looking for there, just give us a call on 13 9684, and we’ll get you sorted.
We pay for legal liability arising from an accident relating to the use of the watercraft for watersports.
You can choose to include optional cover for Sailboat Social Racing when you have Comprehensive Cover.
Extra cover for contents is automatically included under our Comprehensive and Third Party Property Fire and Theft policies for your contents that are kept inside the watercraft. This cover applies only if the damage to the contents occurs due to an insured event and is for set limits. If you require a higher level of cover, you also have the option to upgrade the cover.
If you have comprehensive insurance, you nominate an insured value for the hull and tender, and depending on the watercraft type, additional sums insured for:
• Outboard motor(s)
• Sails, masts, booms and rigging
• Trailer
Provided the watercraft was new when it was purchased and it is documented that you are the first owner, we will replace it with a new watercraft (or pay you the amount equal to replacing it) if it is a total loss within 24 months from when it was purchased.
There are some terms and conditions which apply to the watercraft replacement.
When you select either Comprehensive Cover or Third Party Property Fire and Theft Cover we will include extra cover for personal injury and death.
Repairs made to the watercraft following an insured event have a lifetime guarantee for the period that the watercraft is owned by you if we have authorised the repairer.
We cover the costs involved in salvaging the wreck, as well as towing the watercraft and storing it at a suitable place for safekeeping. Additionally, we reimburse you for some of the costs incurred should you require emergency accommodation or transport following the insured event. This cover does not apply to Third Party Property Only policies.
You are not covered if the watercraft is used for business purposes. This includes if is used for hire, charter or any other use that generates any kind of reward.
We do cover you for voluntary rescue work in addition to your social and pleasure usage.
