This Easter, Youi and the Brisbane Lions returned to Cherbourg with AFL Queensland to host a school holiday Auskick clinic for the local kids and wider community. Together in partnership, the event was a day of football, connection and celebration with Brisbane Lions Women’s players Jade Ellenger and Shanae Davison supporting the clinic and reinforcing the pathways open to young players.
We're delighted to build on our support from last year’s Cherbourg Guernsey Swap, which saw Youi gift over 250 guernseys generously donated by Lions fans. donated by Lions fans.
As Principal Partner of the Brisbane Lions, we continue to deepen our connections with rural communities through sport, using sport as a platform to bring people together and build skills on and off the field. Youi Head of Marketing and Communications, Dave Annesley said sustained engagement was key to meaningful outcomes.
“Our partnership with the Brisbane Lions is about building long-term relationships with communities like Cherbourg,” Dave said.
“Returning in 2026 allows us to continue building trust and creating a genuine, lasting impact.
“Youi and the Lions have a shared focus on strengthening cultural connection, creating opportunities for young people and delivering lasting impact in this community, and I thank the Mayor, Councillors and most importantly the community for their ongoing support.”
Our shared goal for community connection, skill building and education at AFL’s most grassroots level and to give back to the next generation of the sport remains a pillar of our continued partnership growth.
AFLW player Jade Ellenger said genuine relationships were at the heart of the Lions’ community work.
“Being present in community and spending time with young people in places like Cherbourg is incredibly important to us,” Ellenger said.
“It’s about connection, shared experiences and showing young people that they are supported and capable of achieving great things.
“It’s been great to show the kids both our 2024 AFLW Premiership and the 2025 Premiership Cup.
“If our visit can expand the opportunities for young kids to get involved in sport and inspire them to follow their dreams, if that’s AFL or education or something else, then we’re having a positive impact.”
As we head deeper into the 2026 AFL season and beyond, Youi’s partnership with the Brisbane Lions will continue to positively impact kids and communities in Queensland.
