This powerful partnership brings together Youi, the NRL and 11 leading paediatric cancer centres across Australia and New Zealand, uniting the game we love with a cause that truly matters: supporting children facing cancer and the families standing beside them.
Every year, around 1,100 children and teenagers are diagnosed with cancer across Australia and New Zealand. Tragically, three young lives are lost each week, which over the course of a school term, is the equivalent to an entire footy team.
While survival rates have improved to around 80%, one in five children diagnosed with cancer still won’t survive. That’s why Kick for a Cause matters, and why every kick, every donation and every moment of support counts.
Together, Youi, the NRL and Kick for a Cause share an ambitious goal: to raise $1 million through Magic Round and wider fundraising efforts to help give kids’ cancer the boot, supporting research, care and programs that improve the patient experience.
How Kick for a Cause works
During Magic Round 2026, every successful kick at goal will help fund critical care and research for children battling cancer.
For every successful try conversion across NRL Magic Round, Youi will donate $1,000 to Kick for a Cause and double the donation for any successful field goals. Each kick makes a difference, with donations supporting clinical care, groundbreaking research, and vital support for kids with cancer and their families. Every cheer, every kick, every point on the scoreboard helps create real impact where it’s needed most.
A game-changing moment at Magic Round
As part of Kick for a Cause, fans will enjoy a special on‑field activation during half‑time at the Titans v Knights match on Sunday.
NRL legend Trent Hodkinson, alongside fellow rugby league greats, will take part in a goalkicking challenge to bring the crowd together and push the kick tally even higher — with Youi committing further donations for each successful conversion.
In recognition of their strength and resilience, families who have experienced childhood cancer and received care at one of the participating children’s hospitals will also be invited onto the field, sharing an unforgettable Magic Round moment alongside their rugby league heroes.
