For his entire life, Scott Villiers has been a Lions supporter. Growing up in Melbourne, he firstly barracked for Fitzroy, then later when the merger with the Brisbane Bears occurred, continued his support for the rebranded Lions franchise.
As Scott says, he was “born wearing Lions colours”, and almost didn’t have a choice for the AFL side he supported, with his grandfather being a previous Mayor of Fitzroy. When offered the chance to be Youi’s first ever fan sponsor, he jumped at the opportunity.
“I’ve been a massive fan of the Lions since I was a kid and have followed the team’s journey from their days at Fitzroy all the way through to now. To be recognised in this way by Youi is a dream come true – the experience has been life changing. Not only for me and my family but also for what it represents for every sports fan out there who is the lifeblood of their club.”
Scott rarely misses a match, catching games with his family at home and attending the Lions’ away fixtures in Victoria when he can make them. He’s right at home surrounded by the cheer squad and other Lions fans in Bay 36, a group where he’s made lifelong friends and seen the Lions achieve a great deal of on-field success.
Saying Scott is excited for the upcoming Saints game is a bit of an understatement. He says he’s pumped to be the major sponsor of the Lions for their Round 21 clash against St Kilda at Marvel Stadium, hoping (of course) for Brisbane to come away with the win.
